My Sweetheart

Hello everyone!  Are you ready for the weekend?  I am SUPER ready for this weekend, because on Sunday we get the keys to our new house!  My husband is taking next week off of work, and we're going to clean and paint and all sorts of stuff like that.  Then the rest of the month will be doing some changes at a slower pace, and then we move in at the end of the month.  I'm so excited to have my very own, big, scraproom again!  I have some big plans for decorating and organizing it, and since I know how much crafters love organizing their stuff, I'll make sure to share my progress as I go.  :)

Today I have a pretty clean and simple card that I made with a set of dies that I've had for a few months and have been itching to use.  It's the Heartbeat Border Die set from Lifestyle Crafts.  I cut the heart and the beat out with red cardstock, then put it onto a white cardstock mat.  The heart is on my very thickest pop dots. 

I decided that I wanted a little more red, so I put that on a mat of patterned paper from a Paper Studio stack.  I stamped my sentiment from Jaded Blossom's Simple Sayings: Valentine's Edition.  Then I put the whole thing onto a white card.  I decided it just needed one more touch, so I put three little gems in the top left corner.

Just because bird

Good morning!  Today I have a fun summery card to share.  I've been super busy this week working on finishing up my second album of my childhood album series (I'm up through my fifth birthday now) but of course I had time to make a card to enter a few challenges!

I cut the bird using the 3 Birds on Parade Cricut cartridge.  I love that he's wearing flippers that match his inner-tube!  I also cut a sun from the Doodlecharms cartridge.  I think that's my very favorite sun of all of my Cricut cartridges.

I wrapped some ribbon twice around the bottom of the card- I'm loving that look right now- and then tied a little knot on it.  The sentiment is stamped from a Paper Studios sentiment set.

Bee or bear?

Have you checked out the Teddy Bear Parade Series going on at My Crafting Channel?  If not, you should.  Each teddy bear will have its own linky party, and we can link up new or old project using that bear.  Anyone who plays along with the entire series will be entered to win a prize.  I would love to have been able to do that, but unfortunately I have a few things going on in life that just make me too busy to be able to.  :(  I will definitely be playing along with things I've already made, and probably making a few new things using some bears that I've been wanting to use for awhile but just needed to have a motivation to use.

Anyway, today's project that I have for you is using the bee bear.  I made him back when I first got the cartridge, but didn't take into account that his antennas would make him too big to put on a regular A2 card, so he's been just hanging out on my memo board waiting for me to use him.  A few weeks ago Lettering Delights had a freebie bee hive bag, and I thought that this would be a perfect chance to use the bee bear also.  :)

Just a note card

Today I'm sharing a simple card that I made. I used some 6x6 paper from a Recollections stack for the card mat, and then I used some paper from the SNAP 6x6 pad, cut with my zig-zag border punch, to put along the bottom.  You can barely see it, but I like the touch.

The writing paper is from a 6x6 MME stack.  I punched it with my notebook punch to make it look like it was out of a notebook.  On the backside of the paper there was a big pencil, which I thought was cute, so I cut it out and put it on some foam squares.  I used some Fruit Punch stickles on the eraser and then when they dried, I put Glossy Accents over it.  I stamped the paper with a sentiment from Jaded Blossom's Simple Stories and then added two star embellishments from my stash as accents.

There's still plenty of time to play along at this month's Silhouette Challenges challenge.  This month, we're all making shaped cards!  I decided to make my shaped card using the "Get Well Dog" file from SVG Cutting Files. I made my shape card by taking the blackout shape and creating an offset.  I then made a copy of the offset, and then another copy that was mirrored above.  The two copies I welded together and cut in white cardstock.  The original offset I cut in the blue patterned paper.  I did this because when I welded the shape, it would have taken some of the top of the dog's head off.  This way, I adhered the blue over the white cardstock and it has a complete shadow.  I guess I could have just done that with the blackout too, now that I think of it.  Oh well, I like blue.

The thing that always trips me up with shaped cards is that I struggle with how to embellish them.  I feel like when I want a shaped card, it's because I love the shape so much!  So with this pup, I decided to make it a girl and I gave her a bow made of trendy twine. 

The sentiment stamped inside is from Jaded Blossom's "Puppy Love" set. 

Butterflies

Hello everyone!  I hope you're all having a good week.  I'm still coming down off of my birthday high.  One of my favorite presents this year is the Martha Stewart butterfly punch that my husband got me.  I've already used it on two layouts, and yesterday I was punching butterflies out of all of my scraps and the idea for this card came into my head.  I think I've seen home decor pieces that were similar on Pinterest or somewhere.  It reminds me of the boards people make when they collect real life butterflies.

For the card, I punched the butterflies out of paper from the Simple Stories SNAP 6x6 pad.  One of the yellow ones has Crystal stickles and two white pearls.  I wanted one of them to stand out.  All of the butterflies' wings were bent up and they were adhered with liquid adhesive only on their back, for a bit of dimension.  The background paper is from an Authentique 6x6 pad and the whole thing was adhered to an A2 card.  The inside of the card has my one left-over yellow butterfly in the bottom corner, but I didn't take a picture of it.

MP3 Monkey

Hi friends!  Today is a very special day- it's my birthday!  I'm going to spend today doing all sorts of things I love- eating my favorite foods, watching a movie while snuggling with Sophie, maybe even some scrappy shopping.  I recently bought myself my very first iPod (up until now I'd been getting by with off-brand mp3 players) and when I saw this file from SVG Cutting Files, it was too cute to pass up.  I thought what better project to post on my birthday than a birthday bag?

I used the MP3 Monkey cutting file, cut at roughly 4 inches.  I drew on his mouth with a gel pen, and used some ink to give him a little pink on his cheeks.  I also found a couple of pieces of scrap paper in my scraps file that I thought matched the bag well, and then I found this chipboard frame and thought it complemented the colors nicely.  It's amazing how something that comes together relatively quickly (the longest part was picking out the colors to put onto the cameo mat!) can make a plain, old gift bag look so much better.
