For my Anything Goes project, I decided to make a memo board.  This cutting file is from SVG Cuts- it's in the Leaves are Falling set, which was designed as a fall set.  I love that you can make memo boards to match any season with this!  I used green cardstock to cut the board, and a piece of Dear Lizzy paper with roses on it as the front of the board.  Then I used white cardstock for the paper ribbons and white brads to hold it together.

To show you how you can use it to hold mementos, I pulled out a few stickers and pieces I've cut out of other papers from this same collection (it's the Neapolitan collection, in case you were wondering).

Today I've got a festive little friend to share with you.  :)

At the holidays, in addition to our Christmas cards that go out in the mail, I always end up needing to make extras so that we can give them to people who we give gift cards to as presents.  This is one of those.  It is on an A2 red base.  I cut a white piece of cardstock to mat on it, and then a piece of green patterned paper out of my "Christmas" drawer to put on top of that.  The ribbon along the bottom is from American Crafts, I believe.

Isn't my yeti cute?  He's from SVG Cuts' Christmas Cuties cutting set.  I outlined his little muscles in Versapen so you could see them better.  Next, I cut him a Santa hat from the Cricut Cartridge Jolly Holidays.  It's hard to tell on this picture, but the hat is cut from glittery paper that I found at Michaels.

I thought he needed to be a little more festive, so I hand-cut some banners and stamped the word NOEL on them using Lawn Fawn's new Milo's ABCs stamp set.  I love the size and font of that alphabet.  It's so perfect.  I strung the banner on some Holly Berry Trendy Twine and tied little bows on the end.

Hello!  For my project this month, I used a file from "Kate's Holiday Silhouettes" by SVG Cuts.  I couldn't resist all of the holiday silhouettes in this file, and I especially loved this one of the woman walking her scottie dog.  To give it some holiday sparkle, I added Stickles to her earmuffs, skirt, and the dog's sweater.

I used a sentiment from Jaded Blossom's "Christmas Wishes" stamp set and then put a piece of festive ribbon around the side to balance it out.

I'm sure you're all in the midst of your holiday crafting, why not pull out your Silhouette machine and use it to play along with us?

Keep calm and Gobble on

Today I've got a fall/Thanksgiving card to share with you!  When I moved here into my new craft room, I noticed that I had a TON of scraps of patterned paper building up, so I put them all into a bin and have been keeping them on my table and going through them before I make any project.  All four of the patterned papers on this page are from that scraps bin!  It's been really fun to see how the different patterns might go together in ways I hadn't expected. 

I cut my turkey from SVG Cuts' "Thanksgiving Cuties" using my Cameo. The head is popped up on foam squares for some dimension.  I used some Paprika Stickles on the feathers for the sparkle.  For decoration I used some of the sequins I've been accumulating for my scrapbook pages.  The yellow and woodgrain are Studio Calico, I think, and the gold are from the dollar bin at Michaels. They have huge rolls of sequins strung together, so when I start to run low I just cut off some of them and put them in my sequin jar.  :)

The stamp I used says "Keep Calm and Gobble on."  It's from Jaded Blossom's "Thanksgiving Wishes" stamp set.

For my card, I couldn't resist this cute ninja critter from the Jonathan's Bears set from SVG Cuts.  Their files are quickly becoming some of my most used.  After cutting and assembling the bear and his outfit, I added a few finishing touches.  I used glossy accents on his blade to make it extra shiny.  I also used an ink pad on his belt to give it a better texture.  Both the background paper and the blue strip are from Amy Tangerine 6x6 pads, and the sentiment is from a stamp set from Paper Studio.  The bears in this set only come with noses, so I made his eyes with a handheld whole punch and his mouth is a lower case "l" from an alphabet stamp set.

Isn't he a cutie?  I liked the "surprise" sentiment because I thought a ninja would surprise you!  If you love critters as much as I do, make sure you play along and enter our challenge before the end of the month!

3D shoe

Remember about a month ago when SVG Cuts did a promotion where you could download a free SVG from their site and then get a gift card just for making the project and sending them a picture of it?  They had a phenomenal response to it, and I thought "Oh junk, that means they'll probably never want to do it again."  But I was wrong!  This time, the SVG was a super cute shoe.  It was harder to put together than the purse, to be sure, but still fun and something different than my usual cards and scrapbook layouts, plus I love free stuff and I have a nice long wish-list from SVG Cuts, so it was a win-win all around.
First I cut the actual shoe out of black cardstock.  I like to try to figure out how to assemble things on my own, but this one had a lot of pieces so I'll admit to watching Mary's tutorial video about assembly.  Once I had the shoe all pieced together and drying, I cut the insole and the outside panels from a piece of black patterned paper I found in my stash.  It's really old, you guys, but I think it made an interesting shoe pattern.  For the flower on the top, I used some raindrop shaped stickers to make the petals and a piece of bling for the inside of the flower. I think overall it came out pretty nice.  I'm hoping these kinds of promotions keep happening, for sure.

Tennis girl

Hi friends!  Today's sparkly card is brightly colored and very sparkly- just the way I like it!  I used some patterned papers from my stash and some bright ric-rac ribbon.

The cute bear is from an SVG Cuts file called "Taylor's Team."  I used the ice skating bear and just left out her ice skates, then added the tennis racket and ball from the tennis bear (since he's a boy and I wanted it to be a girl bear).  Then I glittered up her outfit with Waterfall and Goldenrod stickles. 

I gave her some googly eyes and her mouth is stamped on.  I used a frowny face stamp from a stamp set by Pink by Design and stamped the mouth upside down, because it was just the shape I wanted. 

The Goldenrod Stickles don't photograph very nicely on the skirt, but look how good the Waterfall Stickles photographed!

A handbag project

Many of you may have heard about the handbag promotion going on right now at SVG Cuts.  You can find more info about it here.  Basically, you download a free SVG of a 3D handbag, make it, upload a picture of it to their website, and they'll send you a gift card to their site.  They have awesome files and I was just about to make a purchase there this week, so I was pretty excited about this.  Here's my purse:

I sized the whole thing down just a smidgen, basically only because I wanted the flowered parts all to fit onto one 6x6 page.  It's from the This and That 6x6 pad from Echo Park.  So normally it would be a little bigger, unless you're not cutting with a Cameo- the file also comes with compatible sizes for 6x12 cutters and 8.5x11 cutters.  I used two sheets of the green cardstock for the purse itself.  It was super easy to put together with just a few strategically placed glue dots.  I just looked at the sample picture, but I believe there's a video tutorial for it too.  Then I put the handle on with two pink brads from We R Memory Keepers and put the front brad on as decoration.  It also came with some really cute tassels, but I couldn't find any paper that I liked to go with it, so I decided to leave it plain.  There have been a ton of really awesome bags featured on their Facebook page while the promotion has gone on.  It was so fun!

When life gives you...

Howdy friends!  No challenges for today, just a card I had an idea for and wanted to see through to fruition.

Today's card is a little card I made with summer in mind.  On the front I put a lemonade die cut that was recently a freebie from KaDoodle Bug Designs.  It's on a piece of green denim paper from Recollections with some yellow Doodlebug polkadot washi tape and a typed sentiment that says "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."  The font that I used is one of my favorites, coincidentally called Strawberry Limeade.

On the inside I put a margarita die cut from SVG cuts (it's from the Fruity Fiesta set).  It's on a piece of yellow denim paper from Recollections with some green Doodlebug polkadot washi tape and a typed sentiment that says "When life gives you limes, make margaritas."  I thought it was a funny play on the old saying.

When we moved to our apartment, we decided that it would be a good time to make a new start in some other ways, too.  One thing we did was not order cable TV, and instead just got Netflix so we could watch "the occasional movie."  That was working really well, until my husband went out of town to visit his friend for the weekend last month and I realized that you can stream entire seasons of TV shows on Netflix.  So, a month later I have watched almost the entire series of Psych, which, if you watch Psych, you know that one of the recurring jokes is anything pineapple related.  So, of course, when I bought the Fruity Fiesta svg's from SVG Cuts, I had to make this pineapple container.  I've been wanting to stretch myself anyway, now that I have two cutting machines, from making just cards and layouts to more gifty types of crafts.  All that was a long winded way of explaining why this super awesome, Jolly Rancher filled, pineapple box is now sitting in my dining room.  :)

It was really pretty simple to assemble.  I used my versapen to trace all of the lines on the pineapple for a little more definition, and then I tied a piece of twine around it in a knot.  I made the little tag with circles on my Cameo and cut them on some Recollections paper.  Then I stamped one of my favorite Jaded Blossom stamps from Simple Sayings- "Smile" on it and adhered it to the knot on the twine.  The cut file comes with its own tag that you can hang around it, but I wanted something a little smaller so I made my own.

Hi friends!  I hope you're all ready for a fun weekend!  Today I've got an A2 card that I made with a free file from SVG Cuts and my Cameo.  

The card has a dark blue background and some patterned paper from My Minds Eye.  I cut the Chrysanthemum free file from SVG Cuts and then realized that the yellow outline was going to blend in too much to the patterned paper that I had picked.  My face looked like this :( for a few minutes because I had already put my Cameo away and didn't want to pull it back out again, and then I decided to put a piece of pink cardstock under the flower and I felt much better.  I added the pink button at the bottom as an embellishment and stamped the "Thanks" from Pink by Design's "Big Thoughts" stamp set in dark blue ink.

Mother's Day

I mentioned a week or so ago that I had gotten a Silhouette Cameo.  Here I am with my first official Silhouette card!  I still love my Cricuts and plan to use both, but this is a fun new toy for sure.  :)

This card is a Mother's Day themed card.  I used the freebie cute kangaroo from SVG Cuts for the mom and joey.   The mom's ears and feet are glittered with Icicle Stickles.  I put them on some Recollections patterned paper that I had cut and put onto the pink card base.

I didn't want to go with the traditional "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment on the outside because that way I can stamp on the inside and it won't be redundant.  The sentiment that I picked is from Pink by Design's "Bracketful" set.  I finished it off with a few purple gems.
