Yet more Sophie scrapbook pages

Here are two more pages I made about Sophie!  Hopefully soon I'll have everything organized and can get back to actually creating!

 The first page is actually on cream cardstock, even though in the picture came out white. I put a piece of orange chevron paper from Reminisce's "It's a Dog's Life" line along the side of the page.  I cut the picture down and put it behind a polaroid frame by Recollections.  The journaling block is cut from paper by Imaginisce's "Good Dog" line and the green tag is from Deja Views Dog Days stack.

The line to the right of the chevron paper is the branding strip from the same piece of paper, and the blue border sticker to the right of that is from Echo Park's "Woof."  The orange Dog sticker and the sticker that I put on the polaroid frame are from It's a Dog's Life sticker sheets.  

The title was cut from my Cricut.  The words "Bad" and "Bone" were cut from George and the words "to" and "the" were cut from Plantin Schoolbook.   

My dark green page was really fun and came together kind of quickly.  The white grid paper is from It's a Dog's Life.  The ribbon on the bottom right is something I picked up for $1 at Joann's.  The big star, which is on foam squares on two sides, is cut from the Snap 6x6 pad.  (Funny story about why it's a star: We were using a star die and the Big Shot in a class I took at Archivers that used the Snap pad, and I accidentally cut the brown instead of the grey that I needed.  Once I realized it, I was left with an extra brown star.  I told my friend Kim I'd find a place for it on one of Sophie's pages, and I did!)

The blue polka dotted paper and all three word strips are from "Woof" by Echo Park, as is the paw that's inside a circle.  The other paw, which is on foam squares, is from an embellishment set I had in my stash.

Father's Day Cards

Today I'm sharing this year's Father's Day Cards.  I used a dark blue card base layered with a piece of grey cardstock that I embossed with the Diamond Plate Cuttlebug folder.  I used three cut files from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons' "Tool Time" file- I love that you can either use the silly faces or not, if you want them to be more serious.  The tools I cut with my Cameo.

The ovals are cut with the Cricut from George and Basic Shapes.  I stamped both the orange oval and the inside paper with stamps from AmyR Stamps.

Fun with sprays

I got a super fun package of spray mists in the mail a few weeks ago, and I decided I wanted to play with them a little.  I got out an old shoebox to use as my spray box and it works really well.  Then I cut four silhouettes out from the George and Basic Shapes cartridge and used some temporary adhesive that I had bought for something at work to attach them onto a sheet of 3.5 inch square white cardstock.

Next, I sprayed each cardstock with one of the colors of mist.  I sprayed the pink and green twice, but the blue and purple went on pretty well in one spray.  Then I just cut out pieces of matching cardstock in 3.75 inch squares and four white 4 inch square cards and adhered them all together. What a fun intro to spray mists!

Jelly beans

I love the Jaded Blossom monthly challenges.  Possibly because they inspire me to make a treat or something other than a card, and possibly because I just love using their stamps.  :)  At any rate, this month their challenge is to do something Easter themed. 

I don't have any special treat bags, so I improvised and used a zipper lunch bag filled with jelly beans.  I cut the topper from the 8x8 Basics stack by Paper Studio and then punched along the border with a border stamp.  Next, I cut the basket from Stretch your Imagination at 3 inches.  Did you know there are no jelly bean Cricut cuts?  At least, I couldn't find any...so time to improvise again!  I used George and cut the ovals at 1/4 inch a bazillion times, then glued them all onto the basket so it would be filled with jelly beans!

The scalloped circle is from Elegant Edges- I cut it at 3 inches using the main image and the shadow.  I lightly inked around the edges of the shadow, and then stamped the Jelly Bean Prayer from Jaded Blossom's Simply Blessings stamp set.  I don't know if you can read it from the picture, but it goes through each color of jelly bean and what they stand for...just make sure you get a bag of classic jelly beans and not one of the fancy ones! 

Get Well

My birthday card pile is adding up quite nicely, and I'm scheduled to go to an Archiver's class this weekend to make even more birthday cards (so excited!) so I thought I should shift my focus to other kinds of cards I might want to stock up on.  Today I made a cheery Get Well card. 

This card is an A2 card.  I used a sketch from Die Cuttin' Divas.  The only real change I made to the sketch is that I smushed their oval into a circle, because it fit my diecut better.  I started with a kraft card, then put some blue paper, and then some pink.  I repeated the blue paper on the shadow of the circle (which was cut from George and Basic Shapes) and then used a cream paper for the circle itself (also from George).

 The rainbow was cut from Create a Critter 2.  I added the cloud, which was actually supposed to be a background for a phrase on Create a Critter 2, so I could stamp the sentiment from Pink by Design's "Scripted Year" stamp set.  Then I put two gems in the top corners and some We R Memory Keepers washi tape along the bottom as embellishments.

Happy Birthday

I hope this picture is ok for you all.  I had to lighten it up a little because of bad lighting when I took the picture.  This card is pretty simple, but I like it.  The red and teal background is made using We R Memory Keepers washi tape.  I just alternated between the two colors.  Then I made the star with an oldy but goody- George and Basic Shapes- with three different sizes of stars cut.  

I cut the strip of paper at the bottom by hand, and then stamped in teal ink using My Craft Spot's "Birthday Wishes" stamp set.  To finish it off, I used three blue skittles in the top corner.  Do you know how cool skittles are?  I got them from Carri at Double Click Connections.  To start off with I just bought 6 colors because I wanted to give them a try, but I will be back for more!

Where's the summer fun?

I know that some of you are probably looking at this card, and looking at the challenge that brought you here from another website, and being all like "what the what?"  Let me explain.  I am a big geek.  Growing up, I lived in an area where we could see the stars on most nights.  In the summer, when it was warm enough to be outside at night, one of my favorite things was to go on my parents' patio and look up at the stars and try to make out the constellations. I admit that when I got my smart phone, the first app that I downloaded was the google app for finding constellations.  So, for me, star gazing is actually Summer Fun.

Ok, enough explanation.  Let's get to the card!  It's a regular A2 card.  I just used some dark blue card stock as the background.  I cut seven stars from Baby Steps and glued them on in the pattern of the Big Dipper, probably the most recognizable of the constellations.  I used a yellow gel pen to trace the line of the constellation, to make it even more recognizable.  The tag was cut from George and Basic Shapes, and the sentiment was stamped with Lawn Fawn stamps (what a shock, right?)  

The blue striped strip at the bottom is a piece of washi tape from Target, and I used a few miscellaneous green gems to dress it up.  On another note- why is it that pictures always show flaws that are totally not noticeable in real life?  I swear there are no visible folds in the paper or washi in real life...

Hooray

Here's my patriotic card making, attempt two.  It's been hard for me to find cuts that go with a patriotic theme, probably because I tend to buy more of the cutesy cartridges.  But, like I said on my last patriotic card post, it's been a good challenge to try to stretch myself in that way.

This card uses patterned paper from the same line as the stars that I used in my other red, white, and blue card (from Paper Studio's All Seasons 2).  I cut a 5.25 inch oval from George and then cut the word "Hooray" from Lyrical Letters.  I used the Fit to Length feature at 5 inches- I think it ended up cutting it at around 3.5 inches that way.  The fireworks originally had some stars included, but I cut them off to focus more on the firework.  I cut it in red, and then Stickled it with Candy Cane Stickles for a little sparkle.

Happy Halloween (part 2)

Although we don't generally decorate for Halloween, I decided I wanted to make a Halloween banner to hang on our mantle.  I found an idea on Pinterest (from Obsessively Crafting) and made some tweaks to make it work for us.  Here's mine:

I made them out of paper without any backing.  I cut many of the shapes from the George & Basic Shapes Cricut Cartridge.  Their faces, for example, are cut from George at 4.5 inches.  All of their eyes, the pumpkin's eyes and nose, and the ghost's mouth are also cut from George.  The other paper pieces I cut myself.  I hung it with black ribbon and there it is!  Below are individual pictures of each Halloween character.
