Sophie scrapbook pages

Time for another installment of "Sophie's Scrapbook!"  Remember, all of my Sophie pages are 8x8.

This first page is a layout about Sophie discovering a love of fast food (like mommy, like puppy!)  I cut the photo down a little and matted it on paper from the DCWV Pet Stack.  I put a sticker from Reminisce's "It's a Dog's Life" sticker sheet on (the one that says "lucky") and next to it put a dog bowl that I had in my stash.  In the bottom right corner are two embellishments from the Imaginisce "Good Dog" collection.  All three bowls on the page have Cinnamon Stickles over the food.

For the title, I cut the words "are these" and the question mark from Lyrical Letters.  The "Dog Treats" sticker is from a Paper Studio sticker sheet, I think.

This second page uses an Instagram photo, so it's square.  The light blue paper with bones is actually a piece of backing from some of the packaging from the Imaginisce Good Dog line.  I like to repurpose.  :)  The title is from the die cuts from the same line, and the orange paw is from one of the chipboard sticker sets.  I used a chipboard word sticker from a Paper Studio set in the bottom left corner and the green pieces of cardstock are also from Paper Studio.  The green paper that I used as a journal block has been punched around the edge with an EK Success punch.  I finished it off with a heart from the Deja Views Dog Days stack.

End of Summer

It's the end of summer, and I can't say I'm too sad.  It's no secret that fall is my favorite.  I wanted to make a goodbye project for summer.  I grew up in Michigan (and hope to be living there again soon) and one of their major summer imports is cherries.  So here's to summer:

This A2 card has corners that were rounded with one of my corner rounders.  I used a light blue card base and a piece of patterned paper from the DCWV All Girl stack.  The sentiment and cherries are from Lyrical Letters.  Aren't they great?  I love the little gems hidden on some of the font cartridges.

This card is going to be entered in Fantabulous Cricut's End of Summer challenge.

Today I've got a Thank You card to add to my rapidly growing card stash.  I started out with the yellow card and the purple cutout from Elegant Edges (which I just got from my birthday and love!) and then got stuck.  I felt like I went through every color and nothing looked right.  Luckily, I recently discovered the handy color wheel at Scrapbook.com and used it to help me pick out teal as my third color.  I used two different colors of teal to cut out the Thanks and the ribbon from Lyrical Letters.  

The teal striped washi tape is Target brand, and the purple flowers washi tape is WRMK.  The inside of the card, which I did not bother to take a picture of, has the left over swirl that was cut out of the purple across the bottom right side.

I'm entering this card into the 100th challenge at Cooking with Cricut- the Thank You challenge.  Special thanks to everyone over at CWC- theirs was the first little blinky that I got to add over on the left side of my blog and so they'll always have a special place in my heart.  I always love participating in their challenges and the DT has such great inspiration.  So, Thanks CWC and congratulations on 100 challenges!

Some Pig

This card was inspired by a childhood favorite of mine.  Remember in Charlotte's Web, when Charlotte spun her web to say "Some Pig" to save Wilbur from being slaughtered by Farmer Zuckerman?  Now THAT'S friendship.

This card has cuts from three different Cricut cartridges.  I wish I had County Fair, because I totally would have put the pig from there on here as Wilbur.  The only pig I have is on Create a Critter, and it didn't fit with the card.  The spiderweb was cut from Wild Card at 4.5 inches.  I cut the words "Some Pig" from Lyrical Letters, using the Jack Sprat font.  They were cut at 1 inch.  I went over them with Frosted Lace Stickles.  I cut Charlotte from Doodlecharms at 2.5 inches.  I put some white cardstock behind her for her eyes and drew her a happy smile with a gel pen.  Then I made the string from the web to the spider by just cutting it out.

The patterned paper at the bottom is from All Seasons 2 by Paper Studio.  I added it at the end for a little bit of extra something.

Hooray

Here's my patriotic card making, attempt two.  It's been hard for me to find cuts that go with a patriotic theme, probably because I tend to buy more of the cutesy cartridges.  But, like I said on my last patriotic card post, it's been a good challenge to try to stretch myself in that way.

This card uses patterned paper from the same line as the stars that I used in my other red, white, and blue card (from Paper Studio's All Seasons 2).  I cut a 5.25 inch oval from George and then cut the word "Hooray" from Lyrical Letters.  I used the Fit to Length feature at 5 inches- I think it ended up cutting it at around 3.5 inches that way.  The fireworks originally had some stars included, but I cut them off to focus more on the firework.  I cut it in red, and then Stickled it with Candy Cane Stickles for a little sparkle.

My Cricut Craft Room- Anything Patriotic

My first challenge!

I follow a few different challenge blogs, and I always have ideas for the challenges but just haven't ever gotten around to completing them.  Well, all that has changed- I finished my first challenge!

This particular challenge was a photo challenge at Cricut Creative Cutter Room. Here is the photo inspiration:

The challenge was to create something with the photo as your inspiration.  I decided to go with a card.  Here it is:

I made this A2 card with kraft background.  The flowers are cut from Lyrical Letters.  For the dark brown flowers, I used the set of flowers that is on page 72 of the handbook (Connected feature- shift) and the pink flowers are from page 66 of the handbook (Connected feature-shift).  I cut the brown flowers at 4.5 inches and I cut the pink flowers to match with the length of 4.25 inches, which came out to be about 5.5 inches.  The ribbon was clearance ribbon from Michaels. 

Now I have to decide if I want to link the project back to the challenge or if I just want to enjoy it on my own.  I'm a little nervous to link back, because everyone will see it then!  For now, I think I'll wait...there's plenty of time before the challenge closes.  Baby steps, right? ETA:  I entered it!

Hippo Birdie!

It kinda makes me insane that my little sister is already turning 22.  That makes me....much older than that.  I HAD to go all-out for her birthday card, because she gets so many cards from me on a weekly (almost) basis that this one had to be special. 

Although you might not be able to tell, this is NOT an A2 card.  I used a full sheet of 8 1/2 by 11 cardstock and folded it in half, meaning this card is 5 1/2 by 8 1/2.  I used the Paper Studios kraft paper that I used for the mom's birthday cards- I'm kind of in love with Kraft.

The patterned paper is from my KI Memories Classics stack.  I love polka dots, and I think the pink goes really well with the kraft.  Plus, it's enough of a pattern to be interesting, but not enough to overwhelm the images.

All of the animals were cut at 2 inches from Create a Critter.  I have plenty of each type of animal, but I wanted them to look uniform.  The hippo has a tiny gem in the middle of it's flower that I picked up at Michaels (so it's probably Recollections brand).  They're popped up with popdots to make it a little more special.

For the sentiment, I used Cricut's Craft Room and welded together letters from Lyrical Letters.  This font must be really "me," because I seem to go back for it a lot.  I'm really glad that Craft Room came out right when I started to get into the Cricut.  It's been so great.  Even when I'm not planning to use it to cut, I can put shapes on there to see how big they are or see how letters would look before I cut- I might not be doing anything super fancy with it, but I sure use it a lot.

Dry erase board

Pinterest is an addictive thing.  I often find things that I think would be really cute, and then tweak them for my own.  So, when I saw this board from Craftaholics Anonymous, I pinned it and filed it away.

A few weekends ago, my husband and I were cleaning out the guest room closet (aka where everything gets shoved to get forgotten) and I found a big, black frame with an old joke diploma in it that I didn't need any more.  A little goo gone later (to get rid of the label that had been affixed to the front), I had a clean black frame.

To make the white background, I found our thickest wrapping paper and just taped it on backwards.  The words were cut with Lyrical Letters.  If I could do it again, I would probably make them smaller, but I didn't feel like wasting more black cardstock, because it's like gold in my craft room, so I left it.  Everything doesn't have to be perfect, right?

Then I made some roses out of coffee filters that I had dyed with food coloring.  I like things to be free as much as possible.  I hot-glued them onto the corner.  Granted, I don't think mine looks as good as the one at Craftaholics Anonymous, but that's why she's a professional crafter and I'm just tinkering in my craft room.  :)

I plan to use it to remind myself of various craft ideas that I've had and occasions that are coming up that I need to make cards for.  :)

7/12/12 update:

I am kind of a clutz and ripped a hole through the paper of my board by pushing too hard when I was writing on it.  So, off to the Dollar Tree I went and got some white posterboard.  In the time between when I first made the frame and when I ripped it, I got Baby Steps, and I absolutely love the font, so I used it on my replacement board.  Here it is:

PS- I keep the cute little worm from 9 months on it for decoration.  :)

Happy Halloween (part 1)

I'm really enjoying making cards.  I decided one day to pull out my cricut and make a Halloween card to send to my mom and younger sister. 

 I cut the card to be 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 by cutting an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of Paper Studio cardstock in half.  The bat paper is cut slightly smaller, and is also from Paper Studio (the All Seasons 2 pack).  The bat and tree were cut using the Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge.

The Happy Halloween sentiment on the inside was cut from the Lyrical Letters cartridge.

My mom and sister seemed to like them, and they were really fun to make!
