Miss you lots

Happy weekend!  Today I've got a fun monochromatic card to share.  A few months ago I got the "Delicate Doilies" stamp set from The Alley Way Stamps, and I've had it in my head for awhile to layer them up to do a card like this for awhile.  In fact, I made one about a month ago, but the colors I picked didn't look right, so I scrapped the card and kept mulling over the idea.  Then, I got a few new stamp pads last weekend (two of which were teal) and I realized that now that I had four teal ink pads, I could do it in a monochromatic way.  They range from a pretty green-ish teal all the way to a dark blue teal, which made for nice contrast with the doily stamps.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

I layered the stamped page onto a piece of patterned paper from Recollections, and added two Recollections gems by the sentiment.  Then I put it on some teal-ish cardstock for the card.

Lightening Bugs

Good Wednesday morning, friends!  Today I've got a summery card to share.  When I was little, I always loved to catch fireflies with our little butterfly nets, so when I saw the Bug Catcher file at Miss Kate's Cuttables, I knew I had to get it.  I put the file on my Cameo mat and decided that I wanted the jar to be a bit wider, so I just resized it to where I wanted it.  That's one of the things I love about the Cameo!  I put a line of silver Stickles on the lid of the jar and I put diamond Stickles on all of the fireflies' rumps to make them sparkle.  Two of the fireflies are on foam dots, and the rest are adhered down flat.

The background paper is from a MME 6x6 pad (of course, because I have a jillion of them!) I cut the yellow circle out of  a piece of Recollections patterned paper and then stamped the sentiment from Jaded Blossom's Simple Sayings.  I kind of thought it looked like a full moon, plus it brings in the yellow from the fireflies.

The washi tape along the botton is from Target.  Sometimes I don't like washi tape that is clear, so I put it on plain old computer paper and then cut it out and adhere the whole thing down.

One of my favorite challenges to participate in is the Wednesday challenges at Simon Says Stamp.  This week, their challenge is to use Triangles.  I spent quite awhile going through my supplies looking for triangles- embossing folder?  nope.  stamp?  nope.  misting mask?  nope.  Finally, I found this background paper from the Amy Tangerine "Yes Please" 6x6 pad and an idea started to form.

I've been using the "Sisters" mini kit from Echo Park to complement some of my scrapbook pages of my childhood.  I knew that the tile "girl" was on there, and I wasn't super sure that I was going to use it on a page, so I thought since it matched the color of the background paper so well, why not use it on a card.  It made me think of the popular "hey girl" meme out there, and so I pulled out these white American Crafts letter stickers and used them to make the sentiment on the card.

To add some embellishment, I used two strips of ribbon and then used another piece to tie a knot in the strips.  I layered it all on some brown cardstock and then it was done!

3D shoe

Remember about a month ago when SVG Cuts did a promotion where you could download a free SVG from their site and then get a gift card just for making the project and sending them a picture of it?  They had a phenomenal response to it, and I thought "Oh junk, that means they'll probably never want to do it again."  But I was wrong!  This time, the SVG was a super cute shoe.  It was harder to put together than the purse, to be sure, but still fun and something different than my usual cards and scrapbook layouts, plus I love free stuff and I have a nice long wish-list from SVG Cuts, so it was a win-win all around.
First I cut the actual shoe out of black cardstock.  I like to try to figure out how to assemble things on my own, but this one had a lot of pieces so I'll admit to watching Mary's tutorial video about assembly.  Once I had the shoe all pieced together and drying, I cut the insole and the outside panels from a piece of black patterned paper I found in my stash.  It's really old, you guys, but I think it made an interesting shoe pattern.  For the flower on the top, I used some raindrop shaped stickers to make the petals and a piece of bling for the inside of the flower. I think overall it came out pretty nice.  I'm hoping these kinds of promotions keep happening, for sure.

Back to School Panda

I've got another back to school card today!  My sister is starting her second year of graduate school, so I wanted to send her a back to school card that was cute but didn't have to do too much with kid types of stuff like crayons or buses.  So I picked this adorable panda from Lettering Delights' Kawaii Kalendar set.  I love the glasses- so cute! 

For patterned paper, I used two scraps from my 6x6 SNAP pad.  I layered the pink on top of the teal so that their stripes lined up.  This card needs to be able to go through the mail, so for embellishment I went simple, with a grouping of three gems in the top corner.

Back to school!

It's almost time for back to school!  Today I've got a very yellow card to share with you.  :)

I cut the school bus from oldie-but-goodie Doodlecharms using a scrap from the Basics pad from Hobby Lobby.  The bus doesn't have circles in the middle of the wheels, so I used a quick hole punch and punched it from the same patterned paper.  I layered it onto a piece of yellow paper from the Snap 6x6 pad and a branding strip from an Amy Tangerine 6x6 pad that looked like a road to me.

In the top corner, I stamped a sentiment from Jaded Blossom's Simple Sayings stamp set and underlined it with a piece of yellow washi tape that I cut into a banner.

I made a card using the awesome easel cards available at My Scrap Chick.  For this one, I decided to use the square easel card.  I decided to go with some green cardstock, and some blue and green patterned papers from my stash.  

I also used the FABULOUS Doodle Flowers file from My Scrap Chick.  I have loved these flowers since the first time I saw them.  They are so intricate, but the Cameo cuts them beautifully!  I put the pink one directly onto the paper, then used thin foam squares on the purple flower and then thick foam squares on the orange flower for dimension.

I also added a few blue gems from my "bling drawer" in the bottom corner to bring in a little more of the blue from the patterned paper.

I also used a stamp from a Pink by Design stamp set called "Grow" that is flower themed.  If you can't read it well from the picture, it says "let us be grateful to those who make our souls blossom."
