A rose by any other name

Imagine my surprise when I entered "rose" into MyCutSearch and found out that only two of the cartridges that I own- Sweethearts and Wild Card- have roses on them!  I just recently used the rose from Wild Card on a scrapbook layout (for when we saw Beauty and the Beast on stage), so I decided to use Sweethearts for this time around.

I cut the rose from the front and backsides of a piece of ProvoCraft cardstock- the kind that is different colors on each side.  That way, I knew they'd coordinate.  The green, however, is just two different shades from my stash.  :)  I recently, on a trip to Michaels, discovered a 6x6 paper pad by Recollections called "The Bright and Basics Pad" for $4.  I suspect that it might be from 12x12 pieces cut into quarters, but I don't care because the patterns are awesome and the price was right.  That is what I used here for the background.  I thought the blue went well with the kraft, and also made the rose pop out.  I pulled some blue ribbon from my stash that is, if memory serves, from the dollar spot at Target.

I cut the off-white tag from Sweethearts and stamped the sentiment from Pink by Design's "Scripted Year" in a wine color.  It is really clear in person, but for some reason I couldn't get a picture that reflected that.  If I was only allowed to own one stamp set, this one would be it.

I plan to enter this card in the following challenges:

  11. Very pretty red rose. I'm going to have to look for 6x6 paper pads next time I go to Michael's. That's all I buy anymore since living in our camper. No room for 12x12 paper storage and I have much less paper waste. Thanks for the tip and for playing along at BBTB2.
