Love is Sweet

Today's card is a bigger card than usual- it's about 5x6.  I used this hearts cut from the Silhouette Online Store and welded two of them side by side.  Once I got it all adhered to the background paper I wrapped some twine around the bottom and tied it in a knot.  The twine is from the dollar section at Michaels- I'm loving getting some small quantities of lots of different colors there, because I don't use twine as much as other things but I like to have colors on hand for when I want it.

The stamp is from Jaded Blossom's Simple Sayings:Valentine's Edition.  I stamped it on white cardstock and hand cut it into a banner.  Then I adhered the entire thing onto the white card base.

Side note: something about the circle patterned paper with the pink stripes on it was making some weird optical illusions when I was taking pictures.  I never even thought I'd have to consider that when planning my projects.  ;)

You're cool!

Happy Friday!  Do you ever look back and your week and you know that it felt really busy while you were in the middle of it, but you're not sure what all you did?  That's how I'm feeling today.

Anyway, I've got a super cute shaped card to share today.  I made the card using the "Cute and Cool" file from Designs on Cloud 9.  I added the simple sign shape by just drawing to rectangles in my Silhouette Studio and welding them together.  Then I made the shadow and the shaped card using the offset feature.  I stamped the sentiment using Build a Valentine by My Craft Spot.

Penguins have a special place in my heart, because I collected them when I was little.  I still have 6 (yes 6!) bins of penguins in my basement...and I've gotten rid of many over the years that cracked or broke or just didn't have any meaning to me anymore.  So this was a very fun card for me to make!

Silhouette Challenge- Challenge #9 "Anything Goes"

It's time
for another Challenge over at

Ch# 9 Anything Goes
Begins: Wednesday, January 1
Ends: Friday, January 31

A blog dedicated to the Silhouette Cutting Machines.
You MUST use a Silhouette somehow in your project.

Sponsor this month is:
Butterfly Kisses Stamp Set by My Craft Spot

For my Anything Goes project, I decided to make a memo board.  This cutting file is from SVG Cuts- it's in the Leaves are Falling set, which was designed as a fall set.  I love that you can make memo boards to match any season with this!  I used green cardstock to cut the board, and a piece of Dear Lizzy paper with roses on it as the front of the board.  Then I used white cardstock for the paper ribbons and white brads to hold it together.

To show you how you can use it to hold mementos, I pulled out a few stickers and pieces I've cut out of other papers from this same collection (it's the Neapolitan collection, in case you were wondering).

Here's a front view:

And a view where you can see the dimension on the board.  It's not just flat!

Now it's your turn!  Anything cut using a Silhouette machine works for this month's challenge.  I'm sure there are some of you out there who had a Silhouette machine waiting under the tree and this would be a great chance to test it out!

VooDoo You Love?

Good afternoon!  I have a really fun card to share today that's been brewing in my head for awhile.  I used the "VooDoo You Love" files from SVG Cutting files to cut this voodoo doll in bright colors.  The file cut stitching marks on her face and body, but I accented them by tracing them with a black gel pen.  I also added some glitter glue (dollar store brand!) to her hair bow.

For the background, I used the Hugs and Kisses cuttlebug folder.  I was afraid that you wouldn't be able to see the texture on black cardstock, but it showed up really crisply.  I love the way it looks!  I also used a border strip embossing folder (Cuttlebug's Just my Type folder set) to mimic the stitching.

Inside, I used the title cut from the same SVG Cutting Files set.  It cut so beautifully!

Ice skating

Hello from the arctic tundra!  At least that's what it's felt like here this week.  In the spirit of the weather, I decided to make a card about ice skating.  I cut the image from the Celebrate with Flourish Cricut cartridge, including the shadow.  Then I used some Cotton Candy stickles to make the snowflakes shine.

For the background paper I used some patterned paper from Recollections.  I thought the swirls reminded me of how it might look on the ice after the skating was done.  I ran a few layers of washi tape over the bottom (extra layers makes it less transparent) and used a tag I punched out to stamp the sentiment.  The sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Winter Wonderland set.

Sophie scrapbook pages

Hi friends!  I've been in a real scrapbooking kind of mood lately.  I tend to cycle between being really inspired to scrapbook and not as much card making, and then switching gears to having a ton of card inspiration but not feeling the scrapbooking.  I was working on a really huge project of scrapbooking my childhood photos that started as "I'll just make a childhood album" and now spans 3 volumes, but today's pages are more of the furry variety.  As a reminder, Sophie's scrapbooks are all 8x8.

The first page I'm sharing I titled "My Trusty Companion."  The title is from the Deja Views Dog Days stack, as is the green and red paper.  The blue cardstock was just extra 8x8 paper that I'd had lying around and decided to use as backings for Sophie's pages.  In fact, all 3 of these layouts are on cardstock from that same package.  The ribbon under my journaling is some $.99 ribbon I picked up at Joann's.

The picture is of Sophie "guarding" my Cheez-its while I went into another room, although I think she was secretly trying to decide if she could steal them without me knowing.  They're her favorite "people food" snack.  That's why I put the angel and devil dog stickers at the top from the It's a Dog's Life collection by Reminisce.  I thought it was what was going on in her little doggy head.  I think the paper behind them is from the same collection.  The v is from Simple Stories.

Next, I have a layout with two pictures of Sophie enjoying her dog blanket that my sister got for her for Christmas last year.  She loves to snuggle up with it.  I used some blue dot paper from the Deja Views Dog Days stackbehind the pictures and in the top corner.  The "a new love" chipboard is by Bella Blvd, the brown paw is by Queen and Co, and the circle with the paw in it is by Echo park.  The other embellishments...I don't know.  I have two drawers completely dedicated to my dog scrapbook supplies- one for paper and one for embellishment, and since it's all mixed in together sometimes I forget.

Last but not least is a page about me and Sophie.  I used some paper from the Imaginisce Good Dog line.  I loved the polka dots, so I went with kind of a circle theme in the embellishments and picked a circle journal block from October Afternoon, a flair badge by Paper Bakery, and some enamel dots.  At the top I used another piece of the chipboard from Bella Blvd and I accented it with a dog bone shaped paper clip.  I got the paperclip as a gift with purchase once when I made an online order, but I'm pretty sure I've seen them on Amazon in case anyone wants them.

So there's a little peek into what's been happening in my crafting world lately.  I've been keeping an obsessive eye on the sneak peeks for CHA, and I've already spotted to dog themed mini lines coming out so I'm excited to add to my ever growing stash of supplies.  I just love dog scrapbook pages!

Black Lab Birthday card

Hi friends! Today I have a fun birthday card to share with you. I used a dog from the Dog Gone Cute cut file from SVG Cutting Files. My sister-in-law has a black lab who she adores. I thought it would be fun for her birthday card to have a likeness of her dog Stanley on it.

It's kind of hard to make a die cut using all the same color, but I think she'll be able to tell who it is supposed to be.  :) To help make her nose stand out, I used enamel accents all over it.  I'm going to have to mail this card, so I wanted to make sure it was nice and flat.

I used some patterned paper from my scraps bin for the background and the sign- mixing and matching those papers is my new favorite past time. The sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Birthday Wishes, my favorite birthday stamp set ever.
